The investigation, conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, led to the detention of five officers over alleged compromise of airport security protocols.

Security sources said the officers were alleged to have received bribes to facilitate unauthorised entry into restricted areas of the airport and to obstruct lawful security operations.

The officers have been handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.

Authorities further disclosed that other personnel from the NIS and NCS, whose involvement was found not to be criminal but amounted to abuse of uniform to facilitate unauthorised access, would face administrative sanctions.

The agencies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict security standards at the nation’s airports and ensuring accountability for any breach of established procedures.
