Angelo Agrizzi, the ex‑COO of BOSASA, has been sentenced by the High Court to 10 years’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for 5 years, following a plea agreement with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
Under the deal, Agrizzi must fully cooperate with the NPA’s investigations and testify in any related prosecution; failure to abide by these conditions will trigger immediate incarceration.
The agreement takes into account his ill health, which has delayed courtroom appearances and complicated proceedings.
His guilty plea marks a critical piece in unraveling the wide‑ranging corruption scandal linked to BOSASA’s award of public‑contracts, signifying both a legal milestone for accountability and a contentious compromise over the appropriateness of non‑custodial outcomes in major corruption cases.
