Former MD NRC Fidet Edetanle Remanded In Maximum Correctional Facility

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arraigned the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria Edetanle, before the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, over alleged fraud to the tune of More than one hundred and sixty five million naira and three hundred and eighty five thousand dollars.

Edetanle was arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on alleged abuse of office, money laundering, and unlawful enrichment while in office.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges which prompted
the prosecution counsel, Abba Muhammad, SAN, to request for a trial date and urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending trial.

However, the defence counsel, Adebowale Kamoru informed the court that he had just received the charge and requested a short adjournment to enable him to file a bail application.

After listening to both parties, Justice Rahman Oshodi adjourned the matter to May 13, 14, and 15 for commencement of trial and ordered that the defendant be remanded in a maximum correctional facility pending the determination of his bail application.
