The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced the suspension of admission into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The development was confirmed in an official notice issued on February 3, 2026, and signed by the Registrar of the university, Mr. C. O. Adeleye.

According to the statement, FUTA will not admit new students into the MBBS programme for the specified academic session.

As a result, candidates who selected FUTA for MBBS during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been advised to immediately seek alternative institutions offering the programme.
