Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on northern political stakeholders to throw their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually take shape.
Speaking at the 2025 Dialogue Session of the Northern Caucus of the National Forum of Former Legislators, held in Abuja on Saturday, Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of continuity and national unity in the Tinubu administration’s governance agenda.
“President Tinubu is not just a Southern leader; he is a national leader who has carried every region along,” Gbajabiamila said.
“From critical infrastructure to policy reforms, the North is benefitting from a government that believes in equity and shared prosperity.”
The session brought together prominent northern political figures and former lawmakers for a closed-door dialogue on Nigeria’s political stability and developmental direction ahead of 2027.
In his remarks, Gbajabiamila praised President Tinubu’s approach to inclusive governance and highlighted the strides made in infrastructure, economic reform, and social investment across all geopolitical zones.
“We are laying solid foundations today, and it is only right that the President is allowed to finish what he started,” he added.
While no official declaration has been made by President Tinubu regarding a second-term bid, the remarks by his Chief of Staff mark one of the clearest indications yet of growing momentum within the presidency and allied political circles.
Political observers view Gbajabiamila’s appeal as a strategic move to secure early northern alignment ahead of the 2027 polls.
The Northern Caucus, a group composed of former lawmakers and regional powerbrokers, plays a significant role in shaping political consensus across the northern bloc.
As the political climate begins to warm, Gbajabiamila’s statement is expected to fuel conversations about President Tinubu’s performance, national cohesion, and the emerging power dynamics ahead of the next election cycle.
