A 10-year-old boy is currently battling for his life following a brutal assault by his father in Diabene, a suburb of Sekondi in the Western Region.
The father, whose name has not yet been revealed, has been accused of physically abusing his son by whipping the boy multiple times on his back, abdomen, and other parts of his body, resulting in severe bruises and wounds.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred after the child reportedly misplaced a key. The father allegedly attributed the incident to the boy’s stubbornness and lack of remorse.
Albert Yalley, the Assembly Member for the Diabene Electoral Area, has confirmed the incident.
He noted that upon learning of the child’s abuse, he took immediate action to ensure the boy received medical treatment at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
Meanwhile, the father has been arrested following the incident.
He is currently at the Sekondi Police Station, as investigations into the matter continue.
This comes after the Ghana Police Service rescued a 12-year-old boy who was subjected to horrific torture, captured in a viral video that has sparked widespread outrage.
The alarming footage depicted the boy tied with a nylon rope and hanging from a rooftop as he was brutally assaulted by two men.
This incident reportedly took place in the New Ankasa community, near Elubo in the Western Region.
According to the Half Assini Divisional Police Command, the attack occurred because the boy was accused of stealing GH₵200.
