Gunmen Abduct Nine Worshippers from Catholic Church in Benue

Suspected gunmen have abducted nine worshippers from Saint John’s Catholic Church in Ojije, Utonkon District of Ado Local Government Area, Benue State.

According to local sources, the attackers stormed the church premises and forcefully took the victims to an unknown location, sparking fear and tension within the community.

Residents said the incident occurred during a church activity, leaving worshippers and nearby residents in shock. Security agencies were reportedly alerted shortly after the abduction.

As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command has not released an official statement on the incident, while efforts are said to be ongoing to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted worshippers.

The attack has renewed concerns over worsening insecurity in parts of Benue State, with community leaders calling for increased security presence around places of worship and rural communities.
