It was Arsenal’s biggest win of the season yet, as Martin Odegaard impressed on his Emirates Stadium return, and they scored three superb goals.

Ethan Nwaneri scored his first Premier League goal to round off the scoring after stunning strikes from Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey, and this handed Arsenal an important three points, with Mikel Arteta’s side now just one point behind Manchester City.

The result was also a significant one in terms of the wider history of the club, as Arsenal have now reached an English football milestone.

Arsenal reach 2000 top-flight wins after beating Nottingham Forest

Arsenal’s win over Forest was their 2000th in top-flight history, across the First Division and the Premier League.

The Gunners are only the second side to reach this total, with Liverpool recording 2068 top-flight wins in their history, whilst Manchester United are way behind on 1910 victories.

This dates back to Arsenal’s foundation in 1886, with 82 wins at the Manor Ground, 951 at Highbury and 230 at the Emirates Stadium, and Arteta is now in the history books as a result.

Mikel Arteta Arsenal top-flight wins compared to Arsene Wenger

Arteta ranks eighth out of all Arsenal managers for the most wins, with 109 wins from 184 Premier League games.

Arsene Wenger ranks top, with 476 victories from 828 games making him untouchable on the list, with Bertie Mee in second place with 181 wins from 420 matches.

The legendary George Graham won 162 of his 350 First Division and Premier League matches in charge of Arsenal, but Arteta will hope that if he can stay long enough, he can overtake some of these legendary names in club folklore.
