Residents of Zaria and surrounding communities are hereby informed that the heavy gunfire sounds heard earlier today were part of a scheduled military training exercise being conducted by security forces in the area. There is no cause for alarm.
Security sources have further confirmed that another round of gunfire may be heard later tonight as part of the ongoing drills.
Members of the public are therefore advised not to panic.
