Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team have arrested four suspects on Tuesday night, including a sitting High Court judge, the leader of a prominent church, and two other individuals aged between 32 and 64.

Authorities say the arrests relate to alleged attempts to influence a civil case before the Pretoria High Court, a long-running succession dispute within the church, with the judge accused of accepting gratification in exchange for handing down a favourable ruling.

Investigators say they uncovered a money trail involving “millions of rand” exchanged among the accused, prompting warrants of arrest and the takedown operation.
