An Abuja-based lady has tearfully narrated her struggles with homelessness, citing the skyrocketing cost of housing in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In an emotional account, she lamented the challenges of securing affordable accommodation in Abuja, stressing that decent houses now cost between ₦700,000 and ₦1 million annually.
“I’m so scared because I don’t want the same thing that is happening to me now to happen to me again. I know what I went through. To get a standard house in Abuja, you need at least ₦700,000 to ₦1 million,” she said.
She also recounted how mould infestation in her previous residence forced her out, while a church she sought refuge in declined to allow her stay overnight.
“Getting a house in Abuja is so expensive. I can’t sleep in my house again because there’s mould, and the church said they don’t allow people to sleep,” she added. WATCH FULL VIDEO:
