Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has warned against the unauthorised use of his images, particularly AI-generated photos, in online advertisements and product promotions.
In a statement posted on X on Saturday, Obi said he was aware that many individuals and organisations had used his image without permission to endorse various products, some of which have been linked to fraudulent schemes.
āOrdinarily, I would gladly support any genuine endeavour by Nigerians that contributes positively to our nation and to the people involved, but not without authorisation,ā Obi stated.
The former Anambra State governor said that despite repeated denials by his media team, the misuse of his images had continued unabated. He noted that some of these unauthorised promotions were being exploited by āunscrupulous personsā to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
āFor this reason, I wish to state categorically that I am not associated with any of these advertisements,ā he said. āThis has therefore compelled me to once again caution the public to exercise vigilance and to disregard any such adverts linking me to products, endorsements, or business schemes.āIf Youāre Reading From Phoenix Click On Read OriginalĀ at the top To Read Full Article
