The residence of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, was searched today by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Muyiwa Adekeye, Media Adviser to Malam El-Rufai.

Ubong Akpan, one of El-Rufai’s lawyers, condemned the search, describing it as “unlawful, and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights.”

This action comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor. Reports indicate that El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since Wednesday night, following his release on administrative bail from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
