President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his Independence Day address, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace innovation, creativity, and excellence across all sectors, describing them as the nation’s “greatest assets and the future of this blessed country.”
“You must continue to dream big, innovate, and conquer more territories in your various fields of science, technology, sports, and the creative sector,” the President said.
Highlighting his administration’s efforts to support young people, Tinubu outlined several key initiatives:
NELFUND Student Loans: Over 510,000 students across 36 states and the FCT, spanning 228 higher institutions, have benefited. As of September 10, ₦99.5 billion in loans and ₦44.7 billion in upkeep allowances had been disbursed.
Credicorp Loans: 153,000 Nigerians have accessed ₦30 billion in affordable loans for vehicles, solar energy, home upgrades, digital devices, and other essentials.
YouthCred: Tens of thousands of NYSC members are now beneficiaries of consumer credit for resettlement, fulfilling Tinubu’s promise made in June.
Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE): The initiative, driven by the Bank of Industry in partnership with the African Development Bank, French Development Agency, and Islamic Development Bank, is set to accelerate support for young Nigerians in technology and creative industries.
Reaffirming his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, President Tinubu pledged to continue creating equitable opportunities for young people:
