INEC Boycotts PDP National Convention as Fintiri Steps Back From Proceedings

The Governor of Adamawa State and Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has boycotted the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention holding in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Addressing delegates at the convention ground, Governor Fintiri declared that he could not proceed with the exercise in the absence of the electoral umpire, stressing that the legitimacy of the convention depends on INEC’s presence.

He stated: “With the absence of INEC, it is not within my prerogative to continue with this exercise. I leave the convention delegates to decide.”
