Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has pledged Tehran’s “full support” for President Nicolás Maduro’s government as tensions rise between Venezuela and the United States.
During a meeting with Venezuelan officials in Caracas, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s backing for Venezuela’s sovereignty and resistance against external pressure.
“Venezuela must defend its independence, sovereignty, and the right to self-determination,” Araghchi said, stressing that Iran stands in solidarity with the South American nation.
The visit comes at a time of mounting U.S. pressure on Venezuela, with Washington signaling potential actions under the pretext of combating drug cartels.
Analysts say Iran’s show of support further underscores growing geopolitical alignments between Caracas and Tehran in the face of Western sanctions and diplomatic isolation.
