Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of late Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, has been declared “war-wounded” by Iranian state media just days after an Israeli airstrike in Tehran reportedly killed his father and wife.

The 56-year-old cleric, who previously maintained a low public profile, was appointed as Iran’s new Supreme Leader by the country’s 88-member Assembly of Experts following the d+ath of his father.

State media referred to Mojtaba as “janbaz,” a Persian term meaning someone wo¥nded in war, though officials have not disclosed details about the inj¥ries he reportedly sustained.

Mojtaba Khamenei is believed to have strong ties to the powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Basij. Analysts say his rise comes at a tense moment, as both the United States and Israel have vowed to target key figures in Iran’s leadership amid the escalating conflict.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to spread across the region. Authorities in Bahrain reported that at least 32 people were wounded after a drone attack struck the Sitra area, while Iran has thr+atened retaliatory strikes on energy facilities in the Gulf in response to Israeli attacks.
