Israel Destroys Apostle Simon Peter’s Historic Shrine in Southern Lebanon-Tensions in the Middle East have intensified after Israeli forces reportedly destroyed the historic Mausoleum of Apostle Simon Peter in the Lebanese village of Shama, located in the southern region of the country.
According to local media and eyewitness reports, the shrine — revered as a centuries-old Christian heritage site — was struck during ongoing Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon. The blast left the sacred monument in ruins, sparking outrage among Christian communities and religious leaders across the region.

The Mausoleum of Simon Peter, widely believed to be the final resting place of one of Jesus Christ’s foremost apostles, had stood as a symbol of faith and coexistence in Lebanon for generations.
Lebanese officials and humanitarian groups have condemned the attack, describing it as a “grave assault on cultural and religious heritage.”
Calls have intensified for the United Nations and international Christian bodies to investigate the incident and hold Israel accountable for what many see as a violation of international humanitarian law.
The Israeli military has yet to issue an official statement addressing the destruction of the site, though military sources maintain that recent strikes in southern Lebanon were aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure.
This incident marks a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which has seen increasing civilian and religious sites caught in the crossfire.
