He said, “From Jerusalem, I send warm greetings to our Christian friends around the world. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From here, the Holy Land, Israel, is the only country in the Middle East where the Christian community is thriving.
“Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians can practise their faith with full rights and in total freedom, where Christian pilgrims are embraced with open arms and are so deeply appreciated, where Christians can proudly celebrate their traditions and openly do so without any fear.
“The persecution of Christians or members of any religion cannot and must not be tolerated. And Muslim militant displacement and attacks against Christians in Nigeria, that too must end. And it must end now”.

Netanyahu’s statement comes amid a global debate on the claim of genocide against Nigerian Christians.
Some lawmakers in the United States, backed by President Donald Trump, claimed that Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria for merely believing in Jesus Christ.
Despite the pushback by the Nigerian government officials, Trump designated the nation as Country of Particular Concern (CPC), with a threat of military invasion to end the alleged Christian massacre.
US congressional delegation was recently in Nigeria to investigate the killing of Christians across the country, with a particular concern on the Middle Belt.
Trump is yet to announce a way forward after the lawmakers visited Nigeria.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to security, unity, stability and religious freedom in Nigeria, assuring citizens that protecting lives and property remains a top priority.
In his Christmas message, the President said his government has remained firm in safeguarding the nation since assuming office in 2023.
“Since I assumed office in 2023, I have continually reassured Nigerians of our unyielding commitment to safeguarding the security, unity, and stability of our nation,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to look beyond the festivities and reflect on the message of peace, hope, and salvation symbolised by the birth of Jesus Christ, while extending Christmas greetings to Christians at home and abroad.
He also reaffirmed his resolve to protect religious freedom and ensure the safety of Nigerians of all faiths, stressing that no one should face discrimination or violence because of their beliefs.+See more details
“All Nigerians have the right to live, worship, and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity,” the President stated.
