Israel has launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran, Defence Minister Israel Katz announced, declaring an immediate state of emergency across the country.
Two columns of smoke were reported over Tehran, while sirens sounded in Jerusalem and other areas as the IDF Home Front Command urged civilians to remain near shelters amid fears of possible missile retaliation.
Authorities said the strike was aimed at neutralising threats, with the military issuing a proactive alert but stopping short of ordering citizens into shelters for now.
