Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, has condemned the renewed violence targeting Christian communities in Nigeria, describing the attacks as unacceptable violations of fundamental human rights.
In a message shared yesterday on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Meloni stressed that religious freedom is an inviolable right, calling on the Nigerian government to intensify efforts to protect all religious groups.
She stated: “We strongly condemn the renewed violence that occurred today against Christian communities in Nigeria. Religious freedom is an inviolable right: we call on the Nigerian government to strengthen the protection of Christian communities and all religious communities, and to prosecute those responsible for these heinous attacks.
Italy expresses its full solidarity with the victims and with the communities in Nigeria that today feel endangered because of their religious belief.”
