The declaration was made by the Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese and the Archbishop of Ibadan province the Most Rev’d Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe in his Christmas message at the Cathedral of St Peter Aremo Ibadan in a statement by the Diocesan Communicator, Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade.
“Not knowing the exact day of Christmas does not negative the fact that Jesus was born” he asserted.
Citing the book of John 3: 16, the cleric stated as follows,” For God so loved, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” stressing that the birth of Jesus reconciles man to God
Christmas is important because of its significant features of love, conducive atmosphere, forgiveness, giving, receipt, decoration of houses, offices, Churches, hotels among others which distinguish Christmas from other annual celebrations.
The Archbishop said the pertinent question is “where is the baby” or is Jesus in your life, he advised all the believers to allow Jesus to manifest in all our ways so as to make live meaningful and be our brothers keepers.
The Archbishop attributed the stampede that occurred recently was as a result of hunger and anger currently experienced in the country.
According to him, “We comeserate with the families who lost the members across the country owing to stampede during the food distribution. These needless death underscore the rising hunger and economic hardship that has engulfed the nation. He called on governments at all levels to address the root causes of hunger and poverty, added that failure to act decisively now will deepen the crisis with devastating social, economic and political consequences.
At the service, 20 males and 34 females were confirmed to enable them become communicants with the promise to obey the doctrines of the Holy Bible.
