Security forces in Sokoto State have recovered 45 cows suspected to have been stolen by cattle rustlers along the Kware–Tangaza forest corridor.
The recovery followed credible intelligence indicating that the rustlers were moving the cattle through the area.
Security expert, Zagazola gathered that the operatives laid an ambush along the Jaoji route in Wamakko Local Government Area, prompting the suspects to abandon the livestock and flee into the bush on sighting the security team.
The 45 cows were taken into custody while efforts are ongoing to trace their rightful owners.
Stakeholders , including the village head in the affected axis, have been notified to assist in identifying the community from which the cattle were rustled.
Investigations are continuing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
