The Nigerian Police on Thursday confirmed the rescue of 73 victims of abduction from various locations across Katsina State.

The police also said that its operatives have arrested 175 suspected kidnappers and criminals across Katsina since the beginning of May 2025.

The Katsina Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq in a statement said that out of the 175 suspected criminals, 15 of them were apprehended in connection with several kidnapping cases.

According to Sodiq, 20 suspects were apprehended for cases of murder and culpable homicide.

He noted that while 30 others were arrested for cases of rape and abuse, a firearm was recovered from one of the suspects.

In addition, Sodiq said a total of 108 suspects were arrested for different criminal offences not mentioned.

Some of the weapons recovered from the suspects include a locally made AK-49, a revolver pistol and 506 7.62mm live rounds of ammunition.

Other items recovered by the Katsina police operatives are motorcycles and over 170 rustled livestock.

Commending the state government for its support in the fight against crime in Katsina, Sodiq urged residents to always cooperate with the police in their effort to stomp crime out of the state.
