According to the Chief of Defense Staff, the operation highlights the professionalism of the FAMa and reaffirms Mali’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and bolstering national security.
Among the influential figures neutralized were Choghib Ag Attahar, Albaraka Ag Alfaki, Moussa Ag Baye Diknane, Bachara Ag Ahmed, Fahd Ag Almahmoud, Mohamed Ag Acherif (known as Mafik), Sidi Ag Bay, and Jamal Ag Albaraka. These individuals were key operatives within the terrorist network in Mali and were reportedly responsible for orchestrating targeted attacks against civilians and military forces in the region.
The locality of Tinzaouatène had been under surveillance for several months, identified as a strategic base for planning and executing activities detrimental to regional security.
The precision strike by the FAMa effectively dismantled the structured leadership of the terrorist group, significantly weakening its operational capacity and disrupting its chain of command.
This operation is a critical milestone in reducing the group’s ability to coordinate attacks across Mali. Security efforts in the Kidal region are ongoing, with continued area control operations to consolidate this victory and ensure lasting peace.
The Chief of Defense Staff commended the courage and professionalism of the forces involved in the operation and called on local populations to distance themselves from terrorist hideouts. He reassured citizens that their safety and protection remain a top priority for the Malian government.
