Armed bandits have attacked Magaji Wando community in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least seven persons and abducting three others.
The incident occurred late Friday night and continued into the early hours of Saturday.
Witnesses told Zagazola that the attackers invaded the community, shooting sporadically, which led to the death of five persons on the spot, while two others later died from gunshot wounds.
The bandits also abducted three persons, two women and a boy during the raid.
Members of the C-Watch security outfit reportedly engaged the attackers in a rescue attempt and evacuated the injured to hospitals in Funtua and Katsina.
However, on their way back, the security team reportedly ran into an ambush where the bandits killed two more persons and injured eight others. The attackers also set ablaze a patrol vehicle belonging to the local vigilante group.
