The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five operatives of the Amotekun Corps in connection with the killing of three residents in Akinlalu, a community in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests followed investigations into the September 30, 2025, incident, during which members of the Amotekun Corps allegedly invaded Akinlalu in retaliation for the reported snatching of pump-action rifles from their operatives by unidentified individuals.
During the invasion, the operatives reportedly opened fire, injuring three residents identified as Adeagbo Kadijat (22), Oke-Ila Oyebamiji (60), and Fayomi Toheeb (19). The police further confirmed that three others Ibrahim Oyebamiji (26), Sefiu Oyebamiji, and Abiola Olutayo were killed, with their bodies allegedly taken away by the Amotekun team.
Police investigations reportedly established that the attackers were members of the Amotekun Corps, with witnesses affirming they could identify those involved. Five suspects have since been apprehended, while others remain at large.
The statement added that the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, has been invited by the police to clarify his role in the incident but has yet to honour the invitation.
Meanwhile, the police have dismissed Omoyele’s recent social media claim of an assassination attempt as false, describing it as an attempt to mislead the public and obstruct justice.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT-FID) to take over the case for further investigation.
The police urged residents to remain calm, assuring that normalcy has been restored in Akinlalu and reaffirming the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across Osun State. If You’re Reading From Phoenix Click On Read Original at the top To Read Full Article
