JUST-IN: Joint Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victims, Kill Bandits In Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army, Operation FANSAN YANMA in collaboration with local vigilantes, have rescued several kidnapped victims and neutralised an unspecified number of bandits during a clearance operation between Kucheri and Wanzamai areas under Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security expert, Zagazola Makama reported that the joint operation was launched following intelligence reports on the movement of armed bandits who had abducted residents from Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State and were hiding in the forest.

According to the source, the troops engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel, killing several of them while others fled with gunshot wounds.

“The operation was successful. Many of the kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, and eight motorcycles comprising Honda and Boxer models were recovered from the criminals,” the source said.

The rescued victims have since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention and reunification with their families.

The source added that the coordinated effort was part of ongoing military operations aimed at flushing out remnants of bandits and restoring peace across Zamfara and neighbouring states.

Leadnaija learnt that Tsafe, located along the Gusau–Funtua highway, has been one of the flashpoints of banditry in the Northwest, with troops intensifying clearance operations to dismantle criminal enclaves in the area.
