JUST-IN: Judge Withdraws from El-Rufai Rights Suit, Cites Leave

The judge presiding over former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s fundamental human rights enforcement suit has withdrawn from the case, citing impending leave.

The case file has been returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court for reassignment to another judge.

The suit, filed at the FCT High Court, challenges alleged violations of El-Rufai’s fundamental rights, including actions by agencies such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) notably an claimed unlawful invasion of his Abuja residence as well as involvement from other bodies like the EFCC and DSS in ongoing legal matters against him.

The withdrawing judge is reported as Justice Hussaini Belgore. With this withdrawal, proceedings in the fundamental rights case are on hold until the Chief Judge reassigns it.
