A 29-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Feb. 12, 2026, in Maiduguri, the Borno State Police Command reported.
According to sources, the victim, Abdul Shahid of 777 Housing Estate, was attacked at around 9:00 p.m. by Ali Idris Abatcha, 27, a resident of the same area. The suspect reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times in the back.
The sources said the Police, acting on a distress call from a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), rushed to the scene, documented the incident, and evacuated the victim to Umaru Shehu Hospital. The victim was certified dead on arrival.
The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the weapon used was recovered as evidence.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Maiduguri is currently investigating the case.
The victim’s remains were released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.
