The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) says it has arrested two suspects, including one impersonating a soldier, in connection with an armed robbery incident in Durumi, Abuja.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest followed a robbery incident reported on Aug. 20 at about 4:00 a.m. at houses Nos. 1 and 2, Ikachukwu Close, opposite Junior Secondary School, Durumi, where residents were dispossessed of valuables.

According to sources, on Aug. 24 at about 10:15 a.m., operatives, acting on intelligence, sighted one Zubairu Usman, who was dressed in half army uniform and falsely claimed to be a sergeant in the Nigerian Army, loitering suspiciously at the scene of the crime in company of another suspect, Abubakar Imram.

He said one of the victims, Mrs. Akinlade Ayodeji, alongside Stephen Julius, a security guard who sustained stab injuries during the robbery, immediately identified the suspects and alerted the police.

“The operatives promptly arrested Usman, who was found with a black Kia Rio with registration number LSD 197 BU, identified as one of the vehicles used during the robbery,” the sources said.

The sources added that preliminary investigation revealed that Usman was not a soldier as claimed.

The sources said the second suspect, Abubakar Imram of Karamajiji village, was also arrested and that investigation was ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of . . Continue..Reading. .
