Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, has been officially invited by the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of forgery and inciting public disturbance.
The invitation was reportedly issued by the Office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit, located at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Sowore disclosed the development on Saturday through his verified X (formerly Twitter) page, where he posted the invitation letter.
“The illegal IGP of @policeng is excreting bricks and can’t stand the heat anymore,” Sowore wrote.
“So he’s embarked again on another voyage, considering that his ‘cybercrime’ farcical trial and the seizure of my international passport didn’t work.”
According to the letter, Sowore is expected to appear at the IGP Monitoring Unit office on Monday to respond to allegations bordering on “forgery and inciting disturbance.”
“He’s invited me to his ‘IGP’ Monitoring Unit section for ‘Forgery and INCTING Disturbance,’” Sowore noted in his post, deliberately calling attention to the misspelling in the official communication.
In a defiant tone, the RevolutionNow convener said he would honor the invitation and urged fellow activists to accompany him.
“I will be there on Monday, and I’ll be inviting all our people in the revolutionary struggle to come with me. #EgbetokunMustGo,” he declared.
As of press time, the Nigeria Police Force has not issued a formal statement regarding the invitation or the allegations leveled against the activist.
This marks the latest in a series of confrontations between Sowore and Nigerian security agencies. He is currently facing trial on previous charges, including cyberstalking and unlawful assembly, and has previously had his international passport seized by authorities.
