Tragedy struck on Friday night as a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a crowded fish market in Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State, killing 10 civilians and injuring seven others-LeadNaija Security Desk Report
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, eyewitnesses confirmed that the attacker infiltrated the market disguised as a civilian before triggering the explosive device.
The deadly blast occurred amidst a bustling evening crowd, claiming the life of the attacker along with 10 civilians on the spot, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Troops of the Nigerian Army and emergency response teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. The injured victims were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.
In response, military and security operatives cordoned off the area to prevent further attacks and to secure the market, a known economic hub in the region.
