A tragic accident claimed two lives on Sunday near the Second Rainbow Bus Stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.
According to a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency responded promptly after receiving an emergency call and deployed its response team to the scene.
The incident, reported at 5:52 PM, involved multiple vehicles, including a MAN truck (registration number KTU 793 YE) carrying groundnut oil, a Honda Accord (registration number KTU 223 GH), and two commercial buses.
Initial reports from the site indicated that the truck suffered a mechanical failure at high speed, causing the driver to lose control and crash into nearby vehicles.
Sadly, two male adults were declared dead at the scene, and several other injured victims received treatment from LASAMBUS emergency responders. All four vehicles involved in the accident sustained significant damage.
A coordinated response by primary agencies ensured a swift clearing of the crash site.
The vehicles were towed away to the Festac Police Station, with the deceased victims’ bodies transferred to the police at the scene and subsequently taken to the mortuary.. View Photos
