Eight young children aged between six and eight were injured on Friday afternoon when a truck collided with a scholar transport minibus on Jabu Ngcobo Road in Inanda.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), which responded to multiple emergency calls, the white Toyota Hiace was transporting learners from various schools in the area when the driver swerved to avoid a pothole.

A white MAN truck travelling in the same direction allegedly mistook the manoeuvre for the minibus pulling over and attempted to overtake.

The truck struck the rear of the Hiace, forcing the scholar transport vehicle off the road and into a nearby bush.

All eight children sustained minor to moderate injuries. Emergency responders, including RUSA officers and medical personnel, treated the minors at the scene before transporting them to hospital. No fatalities were reported.

The incident is the latest in a string of scholar transport accidents across KwaZulu-Natal, where poor road conditions, including potholes, and heavy traffic on routes used by learner taxis have repeatedly raised safety concerns.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the cause of Friday’s crash or any potential charges.

Parents and community members have expressed ongoing frustration over the safety of scholar transport in the province. Investigations by traffic authorities are expected to follow.Get The Full, Details.  .
