U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that he played a central role in authorising the recent military strike by Israel on Iran, stating: “I was very much in charge of that. That attack was very, very powerful. When Israel attacked Iran first, that was a great day for Israel.”
The claim marks a sharp divergence from earlier U.S. official statements which denied direct American involvement in the strikes.
Trump’s remarks raise fresh questions about the coordination and transparency behind the strikes, which targeted Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure and sparked concerns of a wider regional war.
