The Commissioner for Science and Technology in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, has resigned from his position, citing ideological differences with the current administration and reaffirming his loyalty to the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In a resignation letter made public on Wednesday, Kofarmata said his decision was taken in good faith, stressing that he could no longer continue to serve in a government he believes has deviated from the ideals that brought it to power.
“I wish to categorically state that I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner and Member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he wrote. “I took this decision in good faith, as I cannot continue to work under the government that derailed from the ideology that brought it to power.”
The former commissioner expressed appreciation to key political figures and supporters, including Kwankwaso, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and party loyalists who contributed to the NNPP’s political journey in the state.
“On this note, I extend my gratitude to the national leader of the NNPP, Engr. Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the entire people who stood with us and made the journey successful. Alhamdulillah,” he added.
Kofarmata’s resignation is the latest development within Kano’s political landscape and is expected to fuel further discussions around internal party dynamics and governance direction in the state.
