He made it clear during a recent sermon that the current dispensation provides experiences that are different from those of previous generations.
Pastor Kumuyi explained that the powerful wind and the divided tongues of fire that fell upon the apostles during the events of Pentecost were signs of a new move of God that had never happened before. He compared this to Elijah’s experiences, in which God was not present in the wind, fire, or earthquake, but rather in a gentle, quiet voice.
“And then, on those other days, there was only a small, quiet voice. “However, this one now—each of them started to speak in different languages, other tongues, as the Spirit gave them the ability to do so,” he said. He went on to say that such manifestations were not seen in the days of Elijah, Elisha, or Ezekiel, which emphasizes the greater spiritual privileges that are available in the time after the crucifixion.
Pastor Kumuyi specifically cautioned against lyrics that say, “The days of Elijah, they are here!” or “The days of Ezekiel are here!” He stated, “No, sir!” Days beyond Elijah! Days beyond Ezekiel’s generation!” He encouraged believers to acknowledge that the present dispensation, which was established following Christ’s sacrifice, provides experiences that are so deep that even angels desire to comprehend them.
He reminded the congregation that the prophets of old foretold the present generation and the gospel, which is now preached with the Holy Ghost sent from Heaven, by quoting from scripture.
