LeadNaija News reports that Nkire, in a statement on Sunday, urged Tinubu to do everything possible to bring Kwankwaso back to the ruling party ahead of the next election.

“Although Tinubu may win in 2027, Kwankwaso’s inclusion will just nail the coffin,” Nkire said.

The APC chieftain, who backed Kwankwaso during the 2014 presidential primaries against Muhammadu Buhari, said Tinubu should have no difficulty reaching an agreement with his longtime ally.

“President Tinubu should not have a problem reaching an agreement with Kwankwaso, being long-time friends and knowing the reason why Kwankwaso left the APC in the first place,” he said.

Nkire recalled accompanying Kwankwaso several times in 2014 to visit Tinubu, who was then the APC’s National Leader, to seek his support against Buhari.

“Tinubu repeatedly said, ‘I’m sorry, I have given my word to General Buhari,’” Nkire recounted.

On the conditions for Kwankwaso’s possible return or merger with the APC, Nkire expressed confidence in Tinubu’s negotiating skills.

He added, “I believe in President Tinubu’s ability to deal and negotiate either in business or political matters. This deal sailing through will strengthen my belief that the next President will be a product of either a merger, a coalition, or a collaboration.”
