Armed assailants, suspected to be members of the Lakurawas group, launched a deadly raid in Yeldou village, Karakara municipality, Dosso region in Niger Republic on Jan. 21, leaving one civilian dead and another injured.
According to local sources, the attackers specifically targeted a resident, Baoua Kolonto, shooting him fatally at his home around 10 p.m. The injured victim was rushed to Dosso Hospital for treatment.
Local authorities confirmed that police arrived at the scene at approximately 9 a.m. the following day.
In a separate incident in Bazazaga village, Alela commune, Konni department, Tahoua region, an earlier attack by the same group has claimed additional lives.
The death toll has risen to four, while another victim remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment in Galmi Hospital.
The Lakurawas group has been linked to several attacks in Niger, primarily targeting rural communities.
