Senator Kenneth Eze (APC-Ebonyi) Proposes 16-Year Single Tenure for Nigerian President, Says 4-Year Cycles Breed Abandoned Projects
Senator Kenneth Eze has sparked national debate after proposing a single 16-year tenure for Nigerian presidents, replacing the current two-term, four-year structure.
Speaking in his Ezza South constituency, Eze argued that frequent elections undermine governance, stall development, and lead to abandoned projects.
He defended recent economic reforms like fuel subsidy removal as necessary for long-term stability, stressing that critical sectors need sustained commitment beyond short political cycles.
Any constitutional amendment would require National Assembly approval and state ratification.
