Lawmakers Restricts Access to Senate President’s Corridor, Bars Aides

The Office of the Serjeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly has announced reinforced security measures restricting access to the corridor in front of the Senate President’s office.

In a circular dated October 2, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Senate Services, the Serjeant-at-Arms, Brig-Gen. Etido Ekpo (rtd), stated that henceforth, only Senators and Members of the House of Representatives will be permitted to use the long corridor passing through the White House lobby.

The memo, with reference number NASS/SAA/381/S.34, further clarified that aides and personal assistants of lawmakers will no longer be allowed to access the restricted passage.

Lawmakers were advised to notify their aides accordingly to ensure compliance.

According to Ekpo, the measure is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and provide a safe environment for legislative business within the National Assembly complex.
