A former imam, Abdul Halim Khan, 54, has been convicted of 21 counts including rape, sexual assault, and child sexual offences against seven victims at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The offences occurred between 2004 and 2015, with three victims being young teenage girls, the youngest just 12 years old.
Khan exploited his position at an east London mosque to convince victims he possessed magical powers, luring them to isolated locations under the guise of protecting them from harm.
During attacks, he claimed to be possessed by a “Jinn” (evil spirit) to explain his actions. Victims were too terrified to report him, fearing black magic retaliation.
His crimes were uncovered in February 2018 when his youngest victim disclosed the abuse to a teacher.
Khan was convicted of nine counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, five counts of rape of a child under 13, and one count of assault by penetration. He will be sentenced on May 14, 2026.Get The Full, Details. .
