Maj Gen EF Oyinlola has assumed command of the Special Task Force, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), headquartered in Jos, Plateau State, following a formal handing and taking over ceremony on Tuesday.
He takes over from Maj Gen AE Abubakar, who has been redeployed to the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, as Deputy Commandant.
During the ceremony at the OPSH headquarters, Maj Gen Abubakar thanked the personnel for their dedication and support during his tenure.
He acknowledged the role of critical stakeholders in ensuring improved security and stability in the command’s Area of Responsibility.
“I encourage you all to support the incoming commander to build on the operational gains we have achieved,” Abubakar said.
In his remarks, Maj Gen Oyinlola commended his predecessor for repositioning the operation towards achieving notable successes. He assured troops of his commitment to sound administration and prioritizing their welfare.
“My command philosophy will focus on enhancing discipline, dedication, and professionalism to end the cycle of violence in our Joint Operations Area,” he said.
The event featured the signing of the handing and taking over notes, the transfer of the OPSH command insignia, addresses to troops, a quarter guard ceremony, flag change, and a group photograph.
