Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has strongly responded to recent claims made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, escalating the ongoing political war of words.
Adeyanju accused El-Rufai of dishonesty and abuse of power during his tenure in Kaduna State, alleging that the former governor ignored court orders and victimized critics.
“Mallam is a liar. He doesn’t care about morality; he’s a prominent oppressor. I have a list of people he violated in Kaduna. He staged the airport drama. Workers in Kaduna once got a court order restraining him from sacking them — he still sacked them. What he’s experiencing now is karma. If he has the chance to get into power again, he’d do it all over. He’s always attacking Nuhu Ribadu because they are rivals; he knows only Ribadu can bring him down. All I want is for him to surrender to investigation,” Adeyanju said.
The response follows El-Rufai’s appearance on Arise TV, where he alleged that Nuhu Ribadu ordered security operatives to abduct him at an airport.
El-Rufai claimed:
“We tapped Nuhu Ribadu’s phone and confirmed he gave the order for 50 DSS to abduct me at the airport by all means. It wasn’t the EFCC. It was the ICPC. This administration is desperate; they’re now arresting businessmen associated with me. Even the security officials tell us it’s all political and advise us to just settle with them. What does this mean? Join APC.”
The allegations have further deepened political tensions, with no official response yet from Ribadu or the agencies mentioned.
Observers note that the unfolding dispute could have broader political implications as alignments shift ahead of the 2027 elections.
