Former presidential aide and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has stirred widespread reactions on social media after making a provocative statement about what men value most in a partner.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Omokri argued that temperament and peace of mind are more important to most men than a woman’s academic or professional accomplishments.
“As a woman, your educational and career achievements do not mean as much to a man as your temperament. Given the choice of an illiterate who can give him peace and a successful career PhD holder who struggles the head of the household position with him, nine times out of ten, a man will choose the illiterate. Never underestimate peace,” Omokri wrote.
He concluded his post by quoting scripture:
“Christ said, ‘Peace I leave with you’ — John 14:27. As far as many men are concerned, anyone who interferes with that peace is an Antichrist.”
The post has since sparked heated debates online, with many social media users both defending and challenging the premise of Omokri’s statement.
Critics argue that such views promote gender stereotypes and undermine the importance of equality and mutual respect in modern relationships.
Supporters, however, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the value of inner peace and emotional harmony in marriage.
Omokri, known for his polarizing takes on politics, religion, and relationships, is no stranger to public controversy.
His latest comments once again put him at the center of Nigeria’s ongoing cultural and gender discourse.
