In response to the cholera outbreak in Sokoto state, the minister of state for works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has donated assorted drugs worth millions of naira to combat the public health crisis in Goronyo local government area.
The drugs are to be distributed to 11 wards in the area for the treatment of victims of the recent cholera outbreak.
The donation is part of the minister’s ongoing commitment to supporting public health initiatives in sokoto state, and it aimes at assisting those affected by the disease outbreak.
Chief medical director of Amanawa infectious diseases hospital, Dr Garba Muhammad, presented the drugs on behalf of the minister.
He says the gesture is an emergency response to the cholera outbreaks recorded in some communities of the local government area.
He adds the donation is to complement efforts of the sokoto state government in containing the outbreak.
Chairman goronyo local government area, represented by the deputy director of health, Yakubu Miwake, explained that the drugs would be distributed across the wards to support treatment and curb further spread of the disease.
He commended the minister for his quick intervention, stating that the drugs will go a long way in supporting the effected communities.
