Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has reported a substantial increase in earnings from its core services, announcing ₦2.12 trillion in revenue from voice and data services between January and June 2025.
This represents a 55.7% rise compared to the ₦1.36 trillion generated in the same period of 2024, according to the company’s latest financial disclosure.
In a statement accompanying its unaudited half-year results, MTN attributed the performance to increased demand, price adjustments implemented largely in the second quarter, and the continued expansion of its active data subscriber base.
“Our results reflect solid underlying momentum driven by strategic pricing, infrastructure investment, and rising data adoption,” the company said.
MTN reported that its active data subscribers rose by 11.8%, reaching 51 million users. Overall mobile subscribers grew by 6.7%, totaling 84.7 million as of June 2025.
The report also highlighted a notable jump in user engagement, with average data usage per subscriber climbing 26.3% to 13.2GB monthly. The increase is attributed to a smartphone penetration rate of 62.6% and a 41.2% surge in total data traffic.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to network quality and digital inclusion, stating that ongoing infrastructure expansion will support both urban and underserved regions in Nigeria.
