The nominee for Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has expressed concern over persistent logistics challenges faced during elections, pledging to address them if confirmed.
Speaking during his screening at the Senate, Prof. Amupitan cited personal experience to highlight the inadequacies in election logistics and infrastructure.
“My wife was a collection officer. I had to bring a generator to help them because there was no light. Logistics waste time, and those facilities were not there. If we want to do it, let’s do it well. We will provide the necessary transport logistics,” he said.
The nominee emphasized that effective logistics are crucial to credible elections, assuring that under his leadership, INEC would work to ensure timely deployment of materials and personnel nationwide.
