Security operatives in Niger State have arrested two suspects and recovered 22 cows and 10 sheep reportedly stolen from a Fulani settlement in Shiroro Local Government Area.
Sources said that the livestock owner, Hassan Usman of Navi Fulani Camp near Gwada, sighted his rustled animals in the possession of two men at about 0100 hours on Wednesday and immediately alerted security personnel.
Operatives deployed to the area apprehended the suspects, later identified as Buhari Bello of Saminaka in Lapai LGA and Sidi Abdullah of Lefu via Lambata in Gurara LGA.
The 22 cows and 10 sheep were recovered intact and subsequently handed over to the rightful owner.
The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the rustling and are expected to be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
The sources added that security operatives have intensified surveillance around vulnerable communities in the Shiroro axis to deter further livestock-related crimes.
